New York bans Four Loko By Myah Tolbert
With the increased reports of illness and death as a result of the consumption of caffeinated alcoholic drinks, State and federal regulators, such as the FDA, have been working overtime to ban popular drinks such as Four Loko. This past weekend, the New York regions largest beer distributors, agreed to end distribution of all caffeinated alcoholic drinks by December 3, 2010, Joining states like New Jersey in the ban against drinks such as four Loko. Four loko, and others like it are dangerous because in the case of four loko, one is the equivalent of three beers, one cup of coffee, and one red bull energy drink, which in turn can cause Blackouts, confusion of the organs, and in worst cases, if consuming more than one, death. Within the past year, the newest fad drink has affected many people. For instance, in Florida, an 18 year old died after drinking a Four loko with a combination of diet pills . Over the years many fads have come and gone, Today it's Four loko, tomorrow it will be some other drink. However, no matter what your drink of choice maybe make sure the decisions you make are safe ones.
